Dr. Jack Giguere -- Teaching Pastor in Residence
Jack is pastor emeritus of the Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church, Grosse Pointe, Mich. His 40 year ministry was spent in his home state of Michigan.
Jack holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, and is a former district superintendent of the United Methodist Church’s Ann Arbor District in Michigan. Jack and his wife Joyce have had a summer home in Bay View, Michigan for the past thirty years. Bay View is a summer association related to The United Methodist Church. They return there every summer where Jack teaches as he does here at St. Mark’s. Also, for nine years Jack served on Bay View’s Board of Trustees and his wife Joyce, served a four year term as president of the Bay View Women’s Council.
Jack has served on the Board of Trustees of the Methodist Theological Seminary in Ohio and currently is a consultant to Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. for its student scholarship program.
Jack has lead retreats for Episcopal Church clergy and laity at St. Thomas The Apostle Retreat House in Cody, WY. and for United Methodist clergy in Michigan.
Upon retirement in 1999 the Giguere’s moved to Joyce’s home state of Maryland. They love living in Easton and immediately made St. Mark’s their church home. For the past five years Jack has also been a chaplain for the Holland America Line, assigned to their four month Grand World Cruise. As he does in Bay View, and here at St. Mark’s, Jack continues his ministry of teaching on the ship each day they are at sea.
The Giguere’s unusual life is divided yearly with four months each in Easton, MD., Bay View, MI. and on board a Holland American Cruise Line ship.
